“Now the path for the UCPN-Maoist has been cleared as they had been asking for the PM’s resignation. It is the turn of the Maoists to create a favourable environment after the resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal,” said Koirala, adding “The Maoists should be clear about their stance on the disbandment of the paramilitary structure of the Youth Communist League (YCL), returning the seized properties to the rightful owners and other issues regarding the peace process”.
In the programme, NC vice president and PP leader Ram Chandra Poudel said the tune of the Maoists had changed following the PM’s resignation.“The Maoists had been promising to finalise all the issues regarding the peace and constitution drafting with the PM’s exit. But they have changed their tune since then and are trying to interpret the first point of the deal of the three political parties- Maoists, NC and UML on May 28 as a preamble,” said Poudel. He also said that the NC leaders have started consultations with Maoist leaders informally for the formation of the new government.”
Along with vice president Prakash Man Singh, some Ministers of the party in the government and hundreds of party and sister wing cadres received Koirala at the TIA.
